FOUNDER And Teacher
Hi, I’m Esther Wein
I grew up in a family of great Torah personalities who felt a deep responsibility for the spiritual wellbeing of Am Yisrael. My grandfather, Rav Shimon Schwab, is renowned for his courageous leadership and his profound yet practical teachings that have greatly influenced communities worldwide. My parents had an open home, and my father, who was a jeweler by day, spent all his extra time teaching Torah to our non-stop guests with legendary enthusiasm and energy.
After seminary, I trained to be an ultrasound technician. The time I spent observing the miracle of a baby's gestation in the womb, became my inspiration for the "baby in the mother" mashal we use throughout the course.
My vision and sense of mission were shaped by my close relationship with my Opa, my father's dedication to Torah learning and sharing his creative insights, my father-in-law, a cherished talmid of Rav Hutner zt"l, who became my personal teacher, my brilliant husband Heshy, "the secret weapon" who steadily enlightened me with his broad and deep knowledge, particularly of the Rambam. Heshy guided my learning development and opened my mind to breathtaking ideas of Rav Moshe Shapiro and other great Torah thinkers.
My approach is deeply influenced by the mehalech/world view of my exceptional teachers who reliably transmitted the profound and majestic understandings of the greatest minds of our nation, the Rambam, Ramban, and more recently Ramchal, Tanya, Rav Tzadok, and more.
For over 35 years now, I have the privilege of teaching Torah to Jewish students of all ages and backgrounds. I have the added fortune of being able to contribute 100% of my profits to tzedakah. After decades of teaching, speaking, learning privately with students, and repeatedly hearing the same questions, I created Torah Unlocked and its flagship course - Reishis.
This unique course does not answer questions one by one; rather it teaches the "big picture." I address our current personal and national challenges, the goals, demands, pressures, expectations, and trends we are all trying to navigate. I know that when one finally sees the big picture - the whole story that the Torah is telling - they will find the connection, clarity, confidence and tools to remain grounded and inspired in the personal role they can play in channelling Hashem's values into the world.
